Digestion complaints that come and go

What people usually describe when digestion has been unsettled for months, and what the doctor asks about.

Digestion is one of the things people put off mentioning, because it settles for a few weeks and then returns. By the time it is brought to the clinic it usually has a long history.

How people describe it

Heaviness or discomfort after eating. A stomach that is unsettled during a stressful stretch and quiet otherwise. Irregular bowels that swing one way and then the other. Certain foods that were fine for years and are not now.

What gets asked

When the trouble began and what was going on around then. What your meals look like on a normal day and on a bad day. How you sleep. What has already been taken for it, and whether it helped for a while.

The point is not a list of forbidden foods. It is the sequence of how the complaint developed.

How the visit works

A first consultation takes between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on how much history there is to go through. Follow up visits are shorter and are usually 10 to 20 days apart. The consultation fee is Rs 600. Appointments are arranged by phone or on WhatsApp during clinic hours; there is no online booking.

If it has been coming back for months, it is worth bringing in rather than waiting for it to settle again.
